With every passing month hey! is marketed in more countries and markets. Send us an email to info@hey.education and we’ll tell you who the nearest hey! reseller is, so they can provide you all the information that you need.
hey!’s objective is to be available in all the world’s official languages. It is currently available in more than 20 languages and each time it is launched in a country, it is launched in its official language. These include: Spanish, English, French, German, Danish, Arabic, Russian, Finnish, Dutch, Italian, Chinese…
The Exam Mode can be used at all times and prevents students from being able to copy or change their answer after giving it. If this mode is activated on the hey! screen of the student’s device, it shows that the student has answered and they cannot change their answer. When the teacher sees that all the students have already answered, he or she will ask them to press the “Send” button, which appears on the students’ hey! screens, so nobody is able to copy. In addition, 5 seconds after sending the answer, you cannot modify it, so as to avoid changing the answer after sending it.
hey! allows you to get answers, both visually and easily, from all the students to many of the questions that all teachers ask when they are teaching. It is usual for many of them not to get an answer or if they do, it turns out to be too late. Even teachers sometimes have to use systems that are too complex in order to obtain these. Have the students understood the explanation? What have they understood? The questions have sometimes to do with memorization and at others with processing.
The answer that appears on hey! gives the teacher the necessary information to know more about that answer. For example, in a problem how has that answer been reached? The whole class benefits from that explanation. But it is the teacher who sees all the answers that have been given in real time and with each student’s or group’s processes, enables him or her to inquire about the ones which may be the most interesting or the students that may require some help.
No. It depends on the availability of devices and whether the students are in groups or not. If they were in groups, hey! would be the answer that the whole group would give.
The system has an automatic update function in the operating systems that enables it to be updated.
The non-connected hey! version doesn’t have any extra added costs over and above the purchase cost of the hey!U. The software can be used by as many users as needed. This means that you can have a hey!U class that works with hundreds of students.
hey! allows the teacher not be “tied” to any one device, it enables him or her to more naturally control things than is the case with other control systems. In addition, most teachers surveyed do not want to have to look at a tablet or device while teaching the class, and prefer to continue teaching as they have always done. Of course, with real-time information on what students are doing and with immediate feedback can help them make timely decisions without any effort while getting all students involved.
With the current version of hey!, the teacher doesnot require a computer. For future connected versions, they may need one for certain functions.
hey!U uses USB or micro USB ports on computers, tablets and phones. Regarding phones, not all of these have the OTG function, which enables, among other things, the connection of an external USB disk or hey! to receive instructions from phones. There are brands that install it on practically all their models (such as Samsung) while others have it, depending on the model. Most Android tablets on the market have this feature. hey! software detects if the device has this function and, if it doesn’t, it lets you know. In the future, we hope to launch versions of hey! that do not require this port.
No special knowledge is required, neither as a teacher or student. In the case of teachers, it is only necessary to teach the class in the normal way and see, immediately and without any effort, the answers that previously we couldn’t access. For students, it is extremely simple to use.
Great question. A possible solution that some schools are using is implementing a semi-BYOD model – the majority kids bring a tablet, laptop or a tablet that they have at home and if there is a shortfall of devices in a session then the schools’ devices are used to make up the numbers. Using this model schools can gain a massive hey! coverage without having lots of school owned PCs or Tablets.

The decision to use hey! in class should always be that of the school and its teachers. As hey! is completely new, perhaps in the centre, they haven’t had the opportunity to get to know it. You can propose it to the teacher who is responsible for your child. hey! doesn’t involve a large outlay, compared to other solutions (per student or class). Often it is the parents who, although there is no budget, decide that their children should take their own hey! into class.
Conversation held with over a 1000 teachers show that more than 80% of the time, when a teacher asks “Have you understood?”, the answer is a more or less general silence or “yes”. Teachers were aware that students could have had doubts, but they were frustrated at not knowing who it was that hadn’t understood, nor what they hadn’t understood.
In a group of 15, 20, 25 or 30 people there are many differences. Firstly, not everyone has exactly the same level of prior knowledge, nor the same abilities to process the knowledge that is presented to them, or it is simply that not all students have had the same amount of rest. hey! allows teachers to locate doubts at the precise moment in which they come up, they are thus provided with information of great value, enabling them to solve such doubts when it is easier to do so, which allows the class to keep up a better level and rhythm.
The possibility of everyone having the chance to answer is a great help for those who require some continuous or timely additional attention, for those who normally do not, due to feeling embarrassed, stop the class to say “I don’t understand”.
On the contrary. With hey! the invisible communication barrier preventing questions from being answered because of students’ embarrassment is broken. hey! initiates a dialogue that not only solves any doubts but also begins to facilitate the expression of views, opinions, evaluations, criticism, etc. In the words of José María Gutiérrez, Professor of Computer Science at the University of Alcalá de Henares, after the last class in the year tested out hey!U with the students’ own devices: “Now I know what your voice sounds like”.
